As an artist, I think it’s crucial to donate my time and skills to things that are so much bigger than me. As a person that lives on this planet, participates in a capitalist culture, and is currently unable to make my voice heard otherwise, I am painfully aware of the impact voting with your dollar can make, so apart from taking a portion of my own paycheck to donate to important causes, I also wanted to be able to highlight the same causes in my artwork and give you the chance to purchase some cute artwork for a good cause. Especially since I do not rely on Cissy’s Art Café for my day-to-day expenses (thank you, day job!), I’m so glad and so proud that I’m able to take a portion of this shop’s profits and put it towards fighting for a more sustainable and socially conscious future.

Because I want to be kept accountable, I share the amount I raise on social media regularly and will share the total amount at the end of every calendar year through my newsletter.

Past Fundraisers

Bobas For Stonewall

Twitch Charity Stream

In 2022, I began trying out charity streams on Twitch, where I streamed and directed my community towards direct donations to foundations I thought were important. For my first ever charity stream, I selected Stonewall Community Foundation, which raises money and distributes it across the United States in an effort to help the LGBTQIA+ community, a community that is continuously attacked by politicians and legislation.

Thanks to my incredibly generous community, we reached and passed my goal of $500, blowing all of my previous fundraising attempts out of the water!

Asian Women Alliance

Stop Asian Hate vinyl sticker and print

Kimchi the Red Panda would like to add their voice to support #StopAsianHate through this sticker and print illustration.

All of the profits of this design’s sales ($4 per sticker, $8 per print) will be donated to Asian Women Alliance, which generated donations to AAPI organizations fighting for victims of Anti-Asian crime, the rights of the most marginalized AAPI communities, and the long-term social, political, and economic change for all AAPI.

Amount raised (as of December 16, 2021): $204

Send Chinatown Love

Love Us Like You Love Our Food vinyl sticker and print

Over the pandemic, due to racist scapegoating, Chinatowns across the country have suffered disproportionately compared to similar non-Asian small businesses. Even in New York, Chinatown has been slowly shuttering down as businesses struggle to keep their doors open and we slowly lose a significant part of New York’s history. I wanted to make a sticker design to help.

All of the profits of this design’s sales ($4 per sticker, $8 per print) will be donated to Send Chinatown Love, which works to aid small businesses in Chinatown struggling through the pandemic as anti-Asian sentiments swelled. We can help secure Chinatown’s future.

Amount raised (as of December 16, 2021): $124

Asian Americans Advancing Justice

Thank You gouache illustration print

The original photo of the still life that inspired this painting felt so distinctly Asian American to me – from the plastic bag that reminds me of Chinatowns across the country, to the fruit that symbolizes prosperity (pomelo) and longevity (pear).

All of the profits of this print’s sales ($8 per print) will be donated to Asian Americans Advancing Justice, which works to advance civil and human rights for Asian Americans and to build and promote a fair and equitable society for all.

Amount raised (as of December 16, 2021): $144

Black Lives Matter

Be Cute and Anti-Racist sticker

I mean, enough said.

As you may notice from the rest of the content in my shop and my social media, I have two original characters – Honey the Wolfie and Kimchi the Red Panda – that I love to paint often. This sticker is Kimchi the Red Panda encouraging everyone to be like them – cute, and also, anti-racist (and doing the work to become more anti-racist every day)!

All of the proceeds of this sticker’s sales will be going to the Okra Project, which helps feed Black transgender people experiencing food insecurity.

Amount raised (as of December 16, 2021): $370

Black Lives Matter

Honey the Wolfie Supports Black Lives Matter sticker

All lives can’t matter until Black Lives Matter.

As you may notice from the rest of the content in my shop and my social media, I have two original characters – Honey the Wolfie and Kimchi the Red Panda – that I love to paint often. This sticker is of Honey the Wolfie protesting, because he knows that all lives can’t matter until Black lives matter, and he wants to encourage everyone protesting in real life to keep going because protests are working.

All proceeds of this sticker’s sales will be going to the National Bailout Fund, which is a community-based movement working to end pre-trial detention and mass incarceration.

Amount raised (as of December 16, 2021): $235

New York City Food Banks

Taiwanese Yums Sticker Sheet

In the wake of the COVID-19 crisis across the globe, with my own city being a hotspot for the virus, I added a previously Patreon-exclusive sticker sheet to my shop in order to fundraise for the New York City food banks. New York City has a huge homeless and low-income population, and with public schools and libraries closed due to COVID-19, the heroic efforts of food banks are more crucial than ever.

All profits made from this sticker sheet will be donated to Food Bank NYC.

I wanted to use this sticker sheet in particular because it depicts some of my favorite Chinese & Taiwanese foods, as racist anti-Chinese sentiments began to ramp up across the country I call home.

Amount raised (as of December 16, 2021): $280

Amazon Rainforest

Succulent Garden art print

The world is literally on fire, and the Amazon Rainforest is constantly being deforested to make room for agriculture and development, costing the lives of thousands of endangered species and uprooting their indigenous people.

50% of the profits of this print will be going to the Amazon Rainforest Action Network (That means, $3 for every 5×7 print sold, $6 for every 8×10 print sold, and $10 for every 11×17 print sold).

Amount raised (as of December 17, 2020): $145

Fair Fight

Be Cute and Anti-Racist Wooden Pin

I am using my Be Cute and Anti-Racist sustainable wooden pin to help fundraise for Fair Fight in Georgia, which helps register voters across the state and fights voter suppression to ensure a fair democracy for all.

50% of the profits (approximately $3.50 per pin) will be donated.

Amount raised (as of December 16, 2021): $80

Australian Wildfires

Koala sticker

When the world became aware that Australia was on literal fire, I decided to create a sticker to help raise money to fight the wildfires and save the animals that were losing their homes.

The money raised was split between NSWRFS (the world’s largest volunteer fire service) and WIRES (Wildlife rescue).

Anti-Racist Education Resources & Raffle

Over the past few years (since I graduated college in 2016), I’ve been working to educate myself more on issues that my school experiences completely failed to teach me about. I created a series of mini paintings (1.5″ x 2″) of the cover art for 4 books and 4 films that I thought were crucial to my new understanding of the Black American experience for an Anti-Racist Education video that I made for my youtube channel.

I am also raffling off these mini paintings for a chance to have one of these tiny paintings mailed to you. The raffle will end on July 31st, 2020.

The money raised from this raffle will be split between the Equal Justice Initiative (highlighted in the film and book “Just Mercy”, the EJI provides legal representation to prisoners who may have been wrongly convicted of crimes, poor prisoners without effective representation, and those who have been denied fair trial) and the Marsha P. Johnson Institute (an organization that protects and defends the human rights of Black transgender people).

Amount raised (in July 2020): $111, which I personally rounded up to $150 to donate $75 to each organization.
